Climate change adaptation in Africa research and development programme

| Description: | Objectives: To significantly improve the pro-poor adaptive capacity of African societies so that the poor across Africa are resilient to climate volatility and change. Background: In 2005 a series of consultations were carried out in Africa and Southern Asia to establish how research and capacity development could best contribute to alleviating the impacts of climate change on the poor. The results showed that Africa had the least capacity and the greatest need to deal with unavoidable climate change impacts. The five year research programme was designed to meet this need. |
