| Copy Link | |
| Name (native language): | Einfluss von Feuer und Beweidung auf das Wald-Grasland-Mosaik in süd Brasilien |
| Coordinating organisation: | Technical University Munich |
| Description: | * Study of processes explaining the development and the present interactions of the forest-grassland-mosaic and enabling modelling of further development/succession of the vegetation under different scenarios (e.g.. different forms of land managment). * Analysis and description of vegetation ecological criteria for the identification of conservation values in the forest-grassland-mosaic (e.g. endemic species/communities). * Development of methods for the evaluation of conservation values of the vegetation complexes of the hills (morros) aroung Porto Alegre, with a special focus on conservation and restoration value of rare species and natural or almost natural ecosystems. * Development of a system of protected area and of a land use concept for the Porto Alegre area, with the principal aim to steer urban development towards a sustainable direction. Integration of social, economic and political problems will be of importance for future planning processes. |
