Collective Action and Property Rights (CAPRI)

Coordinating organisation: International Food Policy Research Institute
Description: The Government of Italy annually finances this programme as part of its support to the GCIAR centres. The budget indicated is for 2007.
The programme's objective is to contribute to policies and activities to reduce rural poverty by promoting comparative research on the role of property rights and collective action in modelling efficiency, sostenibility and equity in natural resources management.
In addition the programme aims at identifying concrete policy tools to encourage training and strengthen community based organisations; promoting partnership among local organizations, government, civil society and private citizens. Many activities are tailored to strengthen the capacities of both national and CGIAR research centres, NGOs, univiersities, local organizations.
All CGIAR centres participate and sinergies and collaboration have been valued very positively.
