Action E 28 Gernosilva: European Forest Genomics Network
| Copy Link | |
| Coordinating organisation: | Lithuanian Forest Research Institute |
| Description: | The main objective of the Action is to transfer knowledge and technology from the basic science of plant functional genomics to the forestry sector. The Action aims to capitalize on the substantial genome resource that has been developed for model tree species, to provide a link between gene sequence and gene function and thereby enhance our understanding of the genetic and cellular processes affecting tree growth and survival and to use this understanding to develop new tools and biotechnology to enhance forest productivity and durable forest health. The goals of the Action are: Use genome resource developed for model tree species linking gene sequence and gene function Enhance understanding of the genetic and cellular processes affecting tree growth and survival. Use understanding to develop new tools to enhance forest productivity Dialogue with forestry practitioners, tree breeders, forest owners, forest managers and policy makers. To inform the public of the use of new genetic tools and technologies; to show benefits. |
