| Description: | This plan is composed of - 'Sustainable production and consumption patterns' - 'Global change, ecosystems and biodiversity' SPSD II is completed by 'Supporting actions'. In order to integrate the results of the programmes (as above), and to make them more accessible, the 'Supporting actions' have been foreseen as a horizontal initiative. These actions respond to the increased need for collection of information, integration of research and its results as well as the need for communication of sustainable development related information between various actors concerned. The 'Supporting actions' are translated into : - the consolidation of information systems and databases; - the development of research on the role of science for sustainable development (e.g. about precautionary principle, scientific communication...); - interfaces between science, policy and society such as the setting up and the strengthening of thematic platforms (indicators, biodiversity). |
