| Name (native language): | Institutionele Universitaire Samenwerking (IUS) |
| Initiating organisation | |
| Flemish Interuniversity Council- University Development Cooperation | |
| Description: | IUC is a broad cooperation programme in the long term between, on the one hand, a limited number of universities from the South and on the other, Flemish universities and non-university HE institutions. The cooperation should be geared to institutional development in the broad sense of the university in the South. Local priorities and needs are coupled with existing expertise on the Flemish side. The IUC programme for each partner university is made up of several projects. These may involve both education and research projects as well as projects regarding the central policy and administration of a university (e.g. ICT, library development, infrastructure, creation of a research fund and research culture, etc.). Universities from the South are nominated by a Flemish university. Different stages ultimately lead to the execution of a five-year plan with interim evaluation and monitoring. The total theoretical length of cooperation is 10 years, made up of two time blocks of 5 years each. |
