| Description: | The first five year phase of the Danida supported Agricultural Sector Programme Support (ASPS) ended in June 2004. The next five year phase began immediately thereafter and will run until mid-2009. ASPS Phase II will support the farmers of Uganda – particularly the poor and women - to move into the drivers-seat, enabling them to better demand and control agricultural development processes and the delivery of services to those. This is the vision of the Plan for the Modernisation of Agriculture (PMA) and the ASPS Phase II has been designed specifically to support that. Matching the demand and the supply sides of the development equation, the ASPS Phase II will work with both the private sector and Government to implement policies of decentralisation, liberalisation and privatisation. |
