| Name: | Research partnerships with developing countries |
| Initiating organisation | |
| Swiss National Science Foundation | |
| Description: | Research partnerships enable researchers from Switzerland and from developing countries to carry out joint research projects on a partnership basis. The aim of these partnerships is to promote the urgently required development of scientific North-South relationships, thereby helping to strengthen the scientific skills and capabilities of Southern researchers and research institutions. Research institutions from Switzerland and Southern countries are entitled to participate. The financial support provided comprises contributions to the cost of durable equipment, consumables, field costs, travel, conference attendance, etc. as well as salaries. The research partnerships are an integral part of the SNSF's general research promotion activities and are thus open to all scientific disciplines. Research proposals may only be submitted in response to relevant calls. The instrument is a joint initiative by the SNSF and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). |
