| Description: | The Agriculture Support Programme (ASP) is a programme under the Zambia agriculture ministry funded by Swedish Sida and managed by Ramboll Natura. The programme is supporting increased food security and income among small scale farmers by promoting the “Farming as a Business” concept through a process of facilitation, training, infrastructure improvement, capacity building among support structures/services providers and linkages to relevant service providers. Target households currently are 20,000 in northern, central, eastern and southern provinces of Zambia, while ensuring that these are independent, self confident and are making progress in their farming-related businesses. Initial programme period is from 2003 to 2005 with a possible extension to 2007. ASP is implemented by a team composed of the Management Unit in Lusaka and eight (8) Facilitation Team Leaders, 40 District Coordinators and 202 Agricultural Camp Extension Officers. The Management Unit provides technical, financial, logistical and administrative support to the field teams. |
