| Description: | The Swiss Academy of Sciences founded the Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques (CSRS) - Swiss Scientific Research Centre - in 1951. The main objective of the centre is to support basic and applied research, according to the priorities of Côte d'Ivoire and of West Africa, and to produce results applicable to development. The research projects of the CSRS are distributed along 4 axes: - natural environment and biodiversity, nutrition and food security, parsitoses, and urbanisation. Originally conceived as a place that offers Swiss and European researchers the chance of working in a tropical country, the centre has changed over the past 10 years into an important site for research in partnership. |
